M U N C I E – More than 200 model aircraft, some with wingspans exceeding 10 feet, will be on display and in action during the Indiana Warbird Campaign “fly in” September 4-5, 9am each day, at the International Aeromodeling Center’s 1000-acre airfield in Muncie.

The aviation-loving public of all ages is encouraged to attend this fun and educational event for just $3 a carload, with proceeds going to support the National Model Aviation Museum in Muncie and the Wilbur Wright Birthplace Museum in New Castle. Lawn chairs and sunscreen are recommended.

Sponsored by the Academy of Model Aeronautics and the Henry County Wright Flyers club, this event features high-craftmanship, radio-controlled airplane models from World War 1 to the present day, many of which are easily recognizable to the general public. More than 90 pilots from around the country will be on hand to demonstrate and talk about their planes and hobby.

The highlight of the historic model aviation showcase is the air show at noon on Saturday, September 5. In addition, families and enthusiasts will enjoy such exhibits as a 1/3 scale F-117 stealth fighter that kids can sit in and have pictures taken. Youth will also be able to “make and take” a model airplane, among many other activities. Kids of all ages will be given the opportunity to learn on a flight simulator and fly an RC model plane with the help of a “buddy box” and a skilled flight instructor.

Admission to the National Model Aviation Museum on the grounds, the largest collection of model airplanes in the world with more than 8000 artifacts, is also included for visitors attending the event.

The Academy of Model Aeronautics is the world’s largest model aviation association with more than 150,000 members. Founded in 1936 and headquartered in Muncie, the Academy is dedicated to promoting model aviation as a hobby/sport, wholesome family recreational activity, and curricular resource to science and technology teachers on many levels. www.modelaircraft.org</description>
